Water sports are as popular as ever this year amid everything that has been going on. People are looking to stay active outdoors, and the online retailers with their low stocks on kayaks for sale prove my point.

A Sit-on-Top Kayak
A sit-on-top kayak, as the name implies, is an open-cockpit system kayak where you sit on top of the deck of the kayak above the water’s surface. So, instead of having an enclosed cockpit and you being positioned inside of the kayak at or below the water level, you are sitting above.

A Sit-Inside Kayak
The sit-in kayaks are the complete opposite of the sit-on-top kayaks, and it’s probably what you have seen when you first saw a kayak. They are the most common types of kayaks and have an enclosed cockpit where you sit inside, and you are protected from the water. These are especially good for long trips, although, either way, you aren’t guaranteed to stay dry in either type of kayaks.
However, the reason why sit-on-top kayaks came about is that many people feel a bit constrained in the cockpit area, especially if they still haven’t learned how to get out of it. You simply may feel like you don’t have the same freedom to move in and out of the water.

Tandem Kayaks
Tandem kayaks, as the name suggests, let two people inside, and for that, they are longer than the standard kayaks. They go from 18 to 24 feet in length, and when inside, you have to have two people sitting and paddling together simultaneously at all times.

Fishing Kayaks
If you are looking for fishing kayaks for sale, then that’s a whole category with different kayaks to choose from. You have the sit-on-top fishing kayaks, the sit-in, and the paddle or pedal fishing kayaks. They all bring their set of advantages depending on your specific needs. Pedal vs. Paddle Kayaks
With the paddle kayaks, you need to have a paddle and learn how to effectively move around the water with it through a specific set of strokes.
With the pedal kayaks, on the other hand, your hands are free, and not only that you don’t have to buy a paddle separately, but you do all movements with your legs, which is a relief on its own – having in mind that the majority of people hold more power in their legs than their arms.
