This special purple edition of the Red Paddle Co Ride 10’6″ (the worlds most popular paddle board!) is very rigid and nearly unbreakable. Recommended for more advanced paddle boarders that want something extra from their paddling adventures.
Pro’s
- Amazing quality and almost unbreakable board
- It includes one of the best pumps available
- Suitable for both quiet and slightly wilder water
- Red Paddle offers a 5 year warranty on the board
- Lightweight product that is easy to carry and inflate
Cons
- No paddle or leash included
- Very premium pricing
- Less stable than a 6″ thick board
- Maximum carrying capacity of only 100 kg / 220 lbs
- Fins are not removable
Most suitable for:
I would recommend the Red Paddle Co Ride 10’6″ SE mostly for more advanced paddle boarders, who have been paddling for a couple of years already. The maximum carrying capacity is only 220 LBS / 100 kg, so this board is not suitable for bigger/heavier paddlers or for paddling together.
As the board is 4.7″ thick it is a bit less stable than a 6″ board, but really stiff. I mostly recommend it for more advanced boarders because of this reason, but also because of the high pricing and because the package does not include a paddle or leash.
In the first years it might be better for you to practice on a more stable and cheaper board, before you decide to spend over a $1000 on a high quality board like this. If you are sure you want to paddle a lot on the future, this is the highest quality and most sturdy board you can get.
As the board is not that long or thick I wouldn’t recommend it that much for longer touring, but more for slightly wilder waters of even a bit of SUP surfing at the beach. The thinner board makes it easier to carve the waves and to perform quicker turns. The Red Paddle Co Ride 10’6″ is a real all-around board as the size already indicates and can be enjoyed in many ways. (Don’t overthink this)
Length | Width | Thickness | Max weight load | Weight board |
10’6″ | 32″ | 4.7″ | 220 LBS / 100 kg | 21.89 LBS / 9.95 kg |
Primary use
All Round / Surfing / Relaxing
Speed on the water
The board is fast for an all-around board, but it is of course not as fast as a racing board due to its shape. The glides is long and smooth, also due to the three fins.
Transport
It is very easy to transport this SUP because it is inflatable and light. The board weighs almost 10 kg / 22 lbs.
Stability
For beginners the 4.7″ thickness is harder to work with, but for the more advanced boarders this is great. The weight capacity of only 220 lbs is not that high, but going a bit over this won’t hurt anyone.
My own experience
When I got on the Red Paddle Co Ride 10’6″ for the first time, I needed a bit of time to get used to it. Mostly I paddle around on 6″ boards and previous experiences with 4.7″ have been rather wobbly and bendy (Aqua Marina Breeze and Aqua Marina Vapor). But this is a completely different class in terms of price and quality.
But I was not surprised that this was not the case on the Red Paddle Co Ride 10’6″ SE. It felt very stable, but what else could you expect from the most sold paddle board in the world?
The glide feels very smooth and easy, it takes very little effort to move to the side and make small curves to alter my course.

As there are only 3 small fins on the bottom of this inflatable paddle board, it is a bit harder to keep a straight line. But since I already recommended this board for advanced users only, you should know how to paddle decently by now 😉
This board is fast in comparison to other all-around paddle boards, but not nearly the same as what you can achieve with racing paddle boards. Which is of course not expected from an all-around paddle board!
When I took it out to the beach for one day I enjoyed this board even more than on the river. Carving waves is easier because of the thinner board and the very flexible fins do not get damaged from the shallow surfaces you might sometimes come across near the shore.
The stiffness of the Red Paddle Co Ride 10’6″ SE is incredible and is unmatched because of the used MSL technology that is exclusively patented by Red Paddle. The stability could be better, but then again it would be harder to make those easy turns and curves on the water.

In the package
Pump
The Red Paddle Titan pump that comes with the Red Paddle Co 10’6″ Ride SE is a notoriously sturdy double chamber pump and inflates your board quickly. (The only reason I did not include it in my “Best SUP Pumps” guide is because it costs almost $140 to purchase it separately!)

Backpack
The Red Paddle All Terrain Backpack is huge, so you can easily store your rolled up paddle board. The backpack has a very high quality and has integrated wheels that will help you carry it easily. The carrying handles are strong and the foil liner is water resistant and keeps your board cool on those hot days.

Optional accessories (not included)

Red Paddle Carbon 3-piece paddle
Because it is hard to paddle with only your hands!

Red Paddle Coiled Leash

Difference between an Inflatable board and a Hard board
Advantages Inflatable board
- Easy to take on holiday (even on the plane)
- Easy to store in the winter days
- Much cheaper
- Technology has improved greatly over the past 10 years. For this reason, these boards are now almost hard to distinguish from hard boards
Advantages Hardboard
- More speed, which is important if you are a professional
- Easier to make sharp turns on the water because the board is thinner
- No inflation needed, you can get on the water right away

Other reviews of the Red Paddle CO Ride 10’6 online
The Red Paddle CO Ride 10’6 is the most sold inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board and has a load of reviews all over the internet because of that fact.
A short overview of some of these reviews below:
Supboardguide.com: “Beginners may find that they prefer other inflatables that have the 6” thickness for stability. Though I highly suggest if you can make the stretch to consider the Ride. Only because if you end up improving, the Ride will be able to offer you much more excitement in the long run.”
Greenwatersports.com: ” An extremely high quality product from Red Paddle Co who is the outright leader in inflatable paddle board technologies and design – the 10’6″ Ride is still (after several years) my go-to board for all-round paddling and family fun.”
Sunsetpaddler.com: “Looking past the price, it’s a decent all-around that’s viable for almost all water conditions as a jack of all trades. It’s lightweight, rigid, and durable high-quality iSUP.”
Inflatablepaddler.com: Rating 4.8/5. ” Overall the latest Red Paddle Co 10’6″ Ride model is nearly perfect and is definitely one of the best all-around inflatable SUPs on the market today. Despite having higher price tags than many of the cheaper boards that are flooding the market these days, Red Paddle continues to offer excellent value and is a go-to brand for serious paddlers who demand nothing but the best. “
Amazon.com: Rating 5/5. ” This is a very lovely and extremely well-built SUP that will truly last. It’s a great board for beginners, and those who are wanting to have the ease and durability of an all-around board.”
Conclusion – Should I buy this board?
The Red Paddle CO Ride 10’6 is the highest quality board I have ever stood on. Especially remarkable since it is only 4.7″ thick and I am used to 6″ thick boards. If you should purchase this board depends on your experience, your purpose with paddle boarding and of course the budget you have available to spend on a Stand Up Paddle board.
As a beginner I would not recommend this board, as it is really expensive to start out with and not the most stable option. If you happen to not enjoy paddle boarding (almost cannot imagine that!) you have a damn expensive board just lying around. Also you still have to get the paddle and the leash, it is better to get a good and complete package right away.
Are you an advanced paddler that already has a great paddle and leash, and you want to upgrade your board to the best of the best? Then this is the board for you, it will last for ages and it is very versatile for many situations. The incredible 5-year warranty ensures you can enjoy your board for a long time!
Only if you really prefer long touring, racing or Yoga I would recommend you to get a board more suited for the specific purpose than an all-around board. But if you need an all-around board for advanced paddle boarders, the quality does not get any better than the Red Paddle Co 10’6″ Ride.
What do you think of this Red Paddle board or about their boards in general? Do you think they are worth the premium pricing, even without the necessary accessories? Or do you prefer a bit cheaper brands, and if so which ones? Let me know in the comments so I learn about your opinions!
I really love my Red Paddle board, but I bought a used one off of a SUP school because they are so damn expensive. Now I’m looking for a new board for a decent price (around $500/$600). Since I already have a paddle this is not necessary, even though mine is a bit beaten up and a replacement could never hurt. Do you have any suggestions for a new board that has high quality like this but not that expensive?
