Professionals’ Experience

ISLE Pioneer
ISLE Pioneer

The Pioneer inflatable SUP is a well-constructed board made from military-grade PVC and put together with drop-stitch technology. This SUP makes it virtually indestructible, so you don’t need to worry about scratching or scraping it.

At 10’6 in length and with a 34″ wide deck, it has a large surface area, making it a stable, steady board that is easy to balance and ideal for beginners. Some additional key features include a huge brushed traction pad in the center of the board, which allows you to do more activities, including yoga, bungee cords on the front and rear for securing your belongings, carry handles in the center, nose, and tail, and two velcro straps to hold your paddle while not in motion.

ISLE Pioneer

The Pioneer is an all-around inflatable paddle board that can be used for various paddling activities and conditions.

I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to paddle around the lake, calm river, or ocean, and even try your paddle at surfing some small waves.

ISLE Pioneer
ISLE Pioneer

It’s great for everyone, including beginners. The only person we would not recommend the Pioneer would be a larger person, above the weight capacity, with no experience on a stand-up paddleboard. This board has more float than your standard hardboard, but there are a few other boards that ISLE offers with higher weight capacities you should check out if you fit in that category, such as the Explorer or Megalodon.

A Review Guide of ISLE Pioneer Paddleboard 5

Setup

  • 2 carry handles
  • An additional D-ring is on the board’s tail for safety leash attachment.
  • Collapsible design makes it easy and convenient to store when not in use.
  • Features a lightweight material that makes it easy to carry.
  • Large bungee system on the front and back of the paddle for attaching more gear.
  • The paddle holder comprises velcro straps on the board’s rail for equipping your paddle.
  • Traction pad that covers half the board’s back; it’s thick and soft with a real grip that will keep you balanced on the board. It also looks terrific if you ask me.
  • The navigation system consists of 3 fins; one is large, removable, and central, while the other two are smaller and fixed. Those fins are something; the board delivers excellent tracking in flat water.
  • The rounded handles are perfect for transporting the board once inflated and can be found at the board’s nose, tail, and center.
  • You can easily carry the inflated board using the main handle, while the other will allow someone to help you carry it.
A Review Guide of ISLE Pioneer Paddleboard 6

Fins
Since this board has a 3-fin setup and it’s on the shorter side, it maneuvers quite well. Even if you decide to take off the large center fin for shallow waters, you’ll find that you can make quick turns without too much effort. Of course, the total weight on the board can also play a part in this.

A Review Guide of ISLE Pioneer Paddleboard 7

Material
The Pioneer also has a high-pressure inflation valve rated up to 17 PSI. This is slightly lower than other fusion boards with pressure ratings up to 20 PSI, but that doesn’t matter much for most activities.

A Review Guide of ISLE Pioneer Paddleboard 8

Inflate / deflate
If you are using an electric pump, it will take about 5-7 minutes. If you are using a manual pump, it will take around 12-15 to inflate it fully.

A Review Guide of ISLE Pioneer Paddleboard 9

Warranty
ISLE Pioneer Paddleboard comes with a two-year warranty. Additionally, if you open the package and find damage, you have three days to contact them. ISLE gives you a 60-day return policy (from the date of purchase) wherein you can try their products, and if you aren’t satisfied – for any reason – you may return it for a full refund.

A Review Guide of ISLE Pioneer Paddleboard 10

Design
With its versatile design, the ISLE Pioneer Paddle Board is perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy a day on the water. The large deck area and extra-wide stance make it stable and comfortable for beginners, while the nose and tail kick make it perfect for more advanced riders who want to surf or do SUP yoga.

In the Package

SUP Bag

The ISLE travel bag is perfect if you want to take this inflatable paddle board with you on holiday. It is made of high-quality materials and is very comfortable to carry. It is very spacious, has pockets, and fits all the accessories provided in the package.

Fins

The ISLE Pioneer paddleboard comes with a removable nylon touring center fin. This is also why the board provides excellent stability because it improves tracking on flat water. The two fixed side fins are also small, making it easy to roll up your paddleboard.

Leash

Included is an ISLE 8β€² Coil Leash. The strap is very comfortable and provides a velcro holder for a small valuable item such as your key.

ISLE Pioneer
ISLE Pioneer

Paddle

The included ISLE Hybrid 3 Piece Adjustable SUP is the perfect travel paddle and is of excellent quality for an affordable price. It provides the paddler with efficient strokes that do not lose energy due to twists and turns. That said, it doesn’t float indefinitely, and the screws supplied for the anti-twist locks can become loose and need to be tightened every several uses.

Manual Pump

The provided pump is an upgrade from the single-action 2019 model. The ISLE Manual iSUP Hand Pump is a dual-action pump that allows you to inflate your board in just under 10 mins.

Optional accessories (my must-haves – not included)

Here are two of my favorite accessories for this year. One for safety and one because I like to use my time wisely (like take pictures while my board inflates itself) πŸ˜‹

Difference between an Inflatable board and a Hard board

Advantages Inflatable board

  • Easy to take on holiday (even on the plane)
  • Easy to store in the winter days
  • Much cheaper
  • Technology has improved greatly over the past 10 years. For this reason, these boards are now almost hard to distinguish from hard boards

Advantages Hardboard

  • More speed, which is important if you are a professional
  • Easier to make sharp turns on the water because the board is thinner
  • No inflation needed, you can get on the water right away

Other Reviews of The ISLE Pioneer Paddleboard Online

“I bought this as my very first SUP in April 2016 when I moved to an area where I would have easy access to a river for paddleboarding. I have used this many times in the 4 years since that purchase and have loved every minute of it. This is an EXCELLENT board. Because I can inflate/deflate it, I have taken it many places I never could have with a rigid board. I do leave it inflated in my garage most of the time and it surprisingly doesn’t seem to lose air at all. I love that the thickness allows me to sit above the water for those early spring/fall trips where the water is a bit too cold to want my feet standing in it the entire time. It is extremely stable. In 4 years I managed only once to fall off (my fault for being distracted, no fault of the board). It is a chore to inflate this with the included hand-pump, but that will be true for any inflatable that needs to be brought to a high pressure to be rigid, so that’s not a fault at all, just something to be aware of. I do try to take care of it, but it has certainly had a few run-ins with rocks and whatnot over the years yet doesn’t show a bit of wear. Honestly, it’s probably one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. I highly recommend this board and this company.”

Conclusion – Should I buy this board?

The ISLE Pioneer is a decent iSUP for someone looking to get into a mid-range SUP without breaking the bank. Across the board, ISLE offers excellent accessories that make you’re paddling a lot easier, except for the air pump. But in their defense, the optional electric air pumps they offer are one of the best on the market β€” good news if you don’t mind paying a little extra.

Although not the most portable paddle board on the market, the ISLE Pioneer does fold efficiently into the travel bag provided along with all of the included accessories. This allows you to transport the board easily to and from the water, and due to the board’s relatively lightweight, it isn’t too tricky. This board is pretty standard for an inflatable paddle board in its category.

I hope I’ve given you all of the information you require! If you already own an ISLE Pioneer paddleboard, please share your experience and how it went for you. We’d love to hear your story! Follow our Facebook and Instagram accounts to stay up to date. Have fun SUPing!
