The Goosehill Rainbow R is the Most Versatile Paddle Board Ever!
Welcome to my review of the Goosehill Rainbow R 10’6. I’ve already had my fair share of Goosehill paddle board reviews and I’m excited to add this one to the list! So if you would like to join me in this adventure, let’s take a look at the Rainbow R ISUP Passion by Goosehill today. We’ll talk about everything you need to know about the board, including the specs, design, other reviews, and more.
For those of you who are not familiar, Goosehill is a stand-up paddle board manufacturer that provides amazing and innovative iSUPs. I’m always surprised by how affordable their boards are, considering the incredible quality of each one. And since I was able to try the Rainbow R 10’6, I can already tell you that this paddle board is high-performing, just like the other Goosehill iSUPs I have tried before.
The Rainbow R iSUP Passion is so versatile that anyone can use it no matter what skill level you have. And when I say anyone, I mean beginners to intermediate paddlers (advanced paddlers can use it, too, if that’s their thing!). With this paddle board, you’ll get the perfect balance between speed, stability, and portability which is what I usually look for in multi-purpose paddle boards.
Alright, enough chit-chat for now, and let’s get into the nitty-gritty!

What Makes The Goosehill Rainbow R 10’6 Stand Out
There are a lot of amazing things I can say about this board. And if you check out other reviews online, you’ll see a ton of positive comments about the quality of the Goosehill Rainbow R 10’6. So without further ado, let’s get started! First, I want to talk about the versatility of this paddle board because it’s the most important selling point and I want to highlight it as much as possible.
The Goosehill Rainbow R 10’6 inflatable paddle board is an all-around iSUP that can be used by any paddler of skill level, whether you are a rookie, intermediate, or a seasoned paddle boarder. As an enthusiast myself who has been trying out different paddle boards for years, the versatility of this SUP is really amazing and I’m excited to see what else I can do using this board.
Because it has a width of 32”, the Rainbow R 10’6 is wide and spacious enough for SUP fitness activities such as SUP yoga and SUP pilates (which is not usually my thing, but I’m happy to try it out every once in a while 🤪). It can also be used for touring since the deck is very comfortable, with a soft and durable non-slip pad that can also resist damage from sun exposure—so you can have fun under the sun without worries!
To be honest with you, with all the paddle boards I have tried from Goosehill so far, this Rainbow R 10’6 is the most durable one, in my opinion. I mean, I have even seen a Youtube video where a guy tried to torture and run over the blue version of the Rainbow R board with his huge vehicle! SPOILER ALERT, the paddle board retained its shape and quality, and it looked like nothing happened to it. How awesome is that?!
Of course, it also comes with a complete package of basic SUP accessories. When I received the kit and opened the box, I found a detachable center fin, repair kit, coiled leash, hand pump, 3-piece paddle, backpack with straps and wheels, and most importantly, the awesome red paddle board inside.
If you look at the board closely, you’ll see that it has 4 extra D-rings, which is perfect for attaching a SUP kayak seat if you’re more comfortable sitting down on your board. Unfortunately, the package you’ll get with the Rainbow R 10’6 doesn’t include a kayak seat as an accessory. But hey, you can always just buy an extra one if you really want to take advantage of the 4 extra D-rings!
Primary use
As I’ve said a hundred times already, this board is the perfect all-around paddle board. The shape and the design of this SUP is just right, with a nose that’s not too rounded or pointed. It also has a width of 32” so you can definitely use it with kids or your dog (it can carry up to 440 LBS as well). It’s perfect for touring, cruising, exercising, relaxing, and even racing.
Speed on the water
The board is designed for every paddler with an all-around purpose, so Because of the Rainbow R 10’6 rounded nose and wide shape, I don’t really expect this board to be really fast. But when I tried it out myself, I was surprised that it could offer quite a decent speed.
Unlike the Bluefin Voyage, which is a paddle board from Bluefin with a similar shape as this one, the Rainbow R 10’6 can give you both stability and speed, which slightly blows my mind. Somehow, Goosehill has perfected the balance between the size and weight of this board.
Transport
Just like the other Goosehill paddle boards I have tried, this one also has a grab handle in the middle. This makes it easy to carry the board without it slipping and sliding. Aside from that, The Rainbow R 10’6 is also surprisingly lightweight, so it’s easy to bring anywhere, even when traveling.
It also comes with a nice backpack that has two wheels and a handle so you can use it as a trolley. But don’t worry, if pushing bags around is not your thing, the backpack has comfortable straps as well.
Stability
Since the Rainbow R 10’6 is made to be an all-around paddle board suited for all types of SUP activities, Goosehill really made sure to make it as stable as possible. That being said, the board is sturdy enough to balance and navigate easily.
The center fin also contributes in stabilizing the board since it keeps your route on a straight line. With this board’s amazing stability, I highly recommend beginners to start learning how to paddle with the Rainbow R 10’6.
My Own Experience
This All-Around Paddle Board Will Be Your New Best Friend
I must say: Goosehill might have outdone themselves on this one. The reviews I’m seeing so far about the Goosehill Rainbow R 10’6 align with my positive comments when I tested out this board. So long story short, this paddle board is highly loved by the community and I think it’s because of the well-thought-of design as well as the amazing durability this paddle board offers.
Let’s start off with the overall design. Before I personally tried this board, I read and watched many reviews so I can set my expectations properly. But, immediately after opening the box, I got a little too excited (maybe even too much!) when I saw the bright red print on the deflated board. Then, I inspected every angle of the board as well the accessories and low and behold, I was not disappointed!
The Rainbow R 10’6 definitely ticks all of the boxes when it comes to strength so it doesn’t really surprise me that even a car won’t be able to destroy this type of board. But the best part of it all is that even though this board is super strong and almost impossible to break, it’s still a very lightweight paddle board.
With a total weight of 20.5 LBS, the Rainbow R 10’6 is light enough that you can take it anywhere you’d like, so it’s going to be your new best friend! Additionally, this paddle board is known as a surprisingly portable iSUP. You can attach and detach the accessories like the 9-inch slide-in center fin, or easily carry it when inflated through the soft grab handle you can find in the middle of the board.
And as your new best friend, the Rainbow R 10 ‘6 can accompany you with every activity you’d like to do with it. You can go touring, do some SUP fitness sessions, race with your paddle buddies, or relax in a calm and peaceful lake. On top of that, the maximum carrying capacity of this board is surprisingly high. You can carry up to 440 LBS so it’s family and pet friendly.
The width of 32” allows the paddler to bring in another person, a kid, or even a trained dog, so you’ll never run out of things to do with it! The possibilities are truly endless with this high-quality, stable, and good looking all-around paddle board.
Let’s take a closer look at the paddle board’s design in detail
The rumors are true about the Rainbow R’s quality–the details in this paddle board are definitely well-designed, which makes the Rainbow R 10’6 SUPER DURABLE. For example, the deck pad is made with a strong but soft non-slip EVA pad that helps the board resist the damages of sunlight and seawater exposure. The design is also integrated with a super construction enhancement technology, producing a durable laminated surface layer.
Oh and did I mention the advanced drop-stitch technology that makes the board really stiff and rigid even though it’s inflatable? Yup, it’s true. But of course, for the price of $559 (formerly $689), it’s not super perfect and could use a little more improvement, but it gets the job and provides the stability and durability that other pricey paddle boards couldn’t give.
Here is a brief summary of the board design’s highlights:
- Durable laminated layer made with super construction enhancement technology
- Soft and non-slip EVA deck pad
- Anti-sunlight and seawater exposure damage
- 32” deck for great stability and balance
- Comfortable grab handle in the middle
- Air valve that can take up to 15 PSI and for easy deflation
- Nice and sleek design with vibrant print color
Important Features
Now let’s get into the specs of the board that shines out from the rest:
Important features
Setup
- Drop stitch technology for a strong core
- Durable slip resistant foot pad
- 4 extra D-rings for additional attachments like kayak seats
- Nice quality front bungee system for small items
- 9” attachable center fin that’s easy to install
- Adjustable paddle
- Goosehill double action hand pump
- Coiled leash
- Two fixed plastic fin at the tail of the board
Fins
As you can see here in this article, there are three fins you will find in the whole Rainbow R 10’6 package. The first two ones are fixed to the board’s tail. The third one is the detachable 9” center fin that is easy to use and take off since the tail has a slide-in fin box. These fins help keep the Rainbow R paddle board in a straight line, especially if you’re using it as a touring or cruising iSUP.
Material
Like I’ve previously mentioned, I was really impressed by the overall build of this board. That includes the materials used in the product and the manufacturing technology that was integrated. With the Goosehill Rainbow R 10’6, it was made with drop stitch technology for rigidness and a soft EVA deck pad for comfort. Aside from that, the super construction enhancement technology or SCE allows for a stiff yet lightweight paddle board.
Inflate / deflate
You know by now that the Goosehill Rainbow R’s comes with a double action hand pump when purchased. This is used with the tube included and into the air valve of the paddle board. Goosehill’s recommended PSI for the Rainbow board is 15 to 18 PSI so I recommend sticking to those numbers. Personally, I think it was fairly easy to inflate and deflate with the fixed air valve in the tail area.
Warranty
Just like with the Goosehill Touring 12 ‘6, the Goosehill Rainbow R’s has an included warranty of three years. To me, three years sounds like a good enough time for a warranty already. As long as you take good care of your SUP properly, you probably won’t be needing a long warranty either way. But they still also have additional options for those who want a longer warranty period so don’t worry about that.
Design
I might have said this a million times now, but the Goosehill Rainbow R is well-designed and created with an advanced technology. Aside from that, the board also has a slightly rounded nose and a wide deck space for speed and stability. And since it’s made to be an all-around paddle board, the overall design caters to almost all SUP activity you can do. Except for SUP kayaking if you don’t have your own detachable kayak seat and paddle.
In the Package
Paddle
When you open the box of the Goosehill Rainbow R, you’ll see that a 3-piece adjustable paddle is included. For a $559 kit, I think the quality of the paddle is great and can easily fit the backpack for easy travel and transport. Talk about portability right?
And since the paddle is a 3-piece one, you can adjust the height and make it short or longer–depending on your paddling preference. Overall, I think this inclusion is not perfect, but I would still give the paddle a decent rating, especially for an all-around paddle board like the Goosehill Rainbow R.
Pump
Another thing you will receive with the package is a Goosehill dual-chamber hand pump. As expected, the pump works as well as the hand pumps included in other Goosehill iSUP packages. It’s sleek so it fits in the backpack and it has a comfortable handle for easy use. It also didn’t take a lot of time and energy just to inflate the 10’6 paddle board–it only took me about 10 minutes or less.
But if you know me and you’ve read a bunch of my reviews, I’m a huge electric SUP pump fan. That being said, I would highly recommend you use one instead (Like the OutdoorMaster Shark! You can read my review on that here), even if this pump works well too.
Leash
The leash included in the package is as simple as a leash can get. But hey, I’m not complaining since it works just as well. It’s also a coiled ankle leash so it’s not too annoying and won’t be in your way when you’re paddling around in the water.
When I’m testing out ankle leashes, I look for the ones that feel nice when worn, so nothing like the itchy cheap ones you can get in stores. However, with the leash from the Goosehill Rainbow R 10’6, it felt comfortable in my ankle and the coiled part only stretches when I’m in the water, which I appreciate.
Backpack
Now when I saw photos of the backpack in the Goosehill website and in video reviews, I expected the bag to be sized large, just because it looked big in the pictures I have seen. Don’t worry, I wasn’t disappointed when I finally received my own Rainbow R backpack.
It fits all the accessories inside the case, including the dual-chamber hand pump it comes with. Aside from that, it has two wheels at the bottom, a handle at the top, and two comfortable straps if you’re more into carrying backpacks. It’s perfect for the always on the go paddle board enthusiasts.

“Nice board, my friend recommended this brand to me. I have no experience in SUP before but feels pretty stable and safe on it.”
– 5 stars, Loox Reviews, Nancy W.
“After my two times paddling with this board, I believe it offers good value. Even you tag-team with a partner (it’s a great triceps workout too), it takes about 7 mins to inflate to 13 PSI, 2 short of it’s rated 15 PSI pressure. But I think 13 PSI rode perfectly well.”
– 5 stars, Loox Reviews, St. B.
“But yeah, I loved it. I thought it was easy to put away, easy to set up. The little air valve worked great, it didn’t leak. Overall, I loved it.”
- Youtube Review, Foisy Aquatic
“An inflatable stand-up paddle board that packs down into a compact backpack, comes with all the accessories, is light enough to travel with, and doesn’t cost a fortune?! Yes please!”

Take it from me, it took a while before I got to where I’m at today. But Goosehill Rainbow R ISUP Passion is a great board for beginners, especially because it’s so versatile, stable, and durable. (I apologize for using those words over and over, haha!)

Overall, I think this board is so versatile and reliable in many activities, especially with its size and how compact it is. Although I’m curious to know what it’s like to try attaching a kayak seat to it since it has 4 extra d-rings and see what happens. I’m excited to try that out soon.
