Aqua Marina Atlas 2023 Update
The new Aqua Marina Atlas 2023 has been released and its design has completely changed, in line with the whole 2023 looks of the new Aqua Marina collection. The board is 1″ wider, so it will be 34″ instead of 33″.
The board has become slightly heavier, with 24.0 lbs / 10.9 kg instead of of the previous 24.3 LBS / 10.5 kg. It can however carry 10 kg more, the maximum carrying capacity is now 180 kg / 396 lbs.
Also the 2023 version has extra D-rings, so even on this board, you can now attach a kayak seat.

My own experience
I tested the Aqua Marina Atlas board and it offers a lot of stability. As a beginner, this board may even suit you better than the cheaper Aqua Marina boards because of the larger size. You can bring along your pet, child, or extra equipment or dry clothes in this space.
The board has a standard thickness of 6″, a width of 34″, and a length of 12′. This makes it a great touring board. It does not take a lot of effort to keep your balance on this board and that makes it great for longer trips, along with the extra luggage space.

The Aqua Marina Atlas inflatable SUP-Board has many positive aspects. For a very acceptable price, you get a complete package that allows you to start right away.
I find the board the most suitable for calm and slightly wilder waters (flowing river). For the big waves, it is better to look for a sportier model but otherwise, you can use the Atlas everywhere.
The drop stitch technology becomes more advanced every year, which makes the board rock hard and you barely feel that you are standing on an inflatable. The thickness of 6″ provides extra stability because the board reacts less to waves and other movements of the water.

The board includes a simple Aqua Marina paddle board leash. A straightforward leash without a coil, that is always extended. This version is not as good as the coiled version that is sold separately, but for a free included leash it is good enough.

The Aqua Marina Magic Backpack makes it easy to carry your SUP board with you. It really is a basic backpack without a luxury softcover and which is not too sturdy. You can certainly carry your SUP board with you, but you don’t have to put extra stuff in it, otherwise, it could tear through. In the long run, it is better to buy a higher quality backpack.
