The Aqua Marina Fusion lives up to the high expectations. It is one of the most sold inflatable SUP boards and this is justified. The SUP board is great on the water and is very sturdy.
Aqua Marina Fusion 2023 Update
The new Aqua Marina Fusion was updated in 2022 and has been released with its design completely changed, just like the whole 2022 line of the new Aqua Marina collection. The board is quite a bit bigger than the 2021 version, with a size that is now 10β10β / 330cm instead of the previous 10’4″ / 315 cm.
The width of the board has also changed, from 30″ previously to 32″/ 81cm now. So the board has become a lot more stable than it was before.
Even though it has become both longer and wider, the weight has only increased by 0.2 kg. The board now weighs 8.6 kg instead of 8.4 kg. The maximum carrying capacity has been increased from 130 kg up to 150 kg, to truly make this board suitable for everyone and even be able to take two lighter people on it.
Pro’s
- Very interesting price
- Upon purchase you get a complete package so you do not have to incur extra costs to start
- Suitable for both quiet and slightly wilder water
- Lightweight product that is easy to carry and inflate
- Is wonderful on the water compared to a 4.7″ thick board
- Possible to attach a SUP seat (not included)
Cons
- Not so agile due to its length
- The board is not fast enough for the advanced SUP boarder (5+ years experience)
Most suitable for:
You do not want to catch high waves but you will not be bothered when the water is playful. This board is especially suitable for starters and people who have less than 5 years of SUP experience. The board is not very fast (partly because it is inflatable) but mainly focuses on sportiness and fun.

Speed on the water
The board is relatively short and wide, suitable for touring but not as fast as longer and less wide boards. Not suited for racing.
Transport
It is very easy to transport this SUP because it is inflatable and light. Even on your back if you go with a bicycle.
Stability
The board is stable on the water and the weight capacity of 330 lbs is even enough to take a pet or a child along and sometimes even a second person.
My own experience
I tested the Aqua Marina Fusion board right after the Aqua Marina Vapor. After I switched from the Aqua Marina Vapor to the Fusion the feeling was a lot better. The Fusion is a bit longer with its length of 10’10” and you can feel this right away.
The thickness of 6″ is also a huge improvement, especially for the recreational user. Because the board is thicker it is a lot more stable on the water.

The Aqua Marina Fusion inflatable SUP-Board has many positive aspects. For a very acceptable price you get a complete package which allows you to start right away.
The board feels robust and has a maximum carrying capacity of 330 lbs, which enables you to take some luggage or maybe a child or pet. Another big advantage is the possibility to attach a SUP seat on the board. This allows you to use the SUP well to sit and paddle over the water.
” This board is very well suitable for anyone who wants to start paddleboarding and does not want to spend a lot of money, but still would like a paddle board of good quality that is 6″ thick then this is surely a great option for you. “

Pump
The Aqua Marina Double Action pump supplied is simple but does its job well. In 5 to 8 minutes, depending on your pace, you should be able to inflate the board easily. The pressure gauge clearly indicates how hard the board has been inflated.

Leash
The board includes a simple Aqua Marina paddle board leash. A straightforward leash without a coil, that is always extended. This version is not as good as the coiled version that is sold separately, but for a free included leash it is good enough.

The Aqua Marina Magic Backpack makes it easy to carry your SUP board with you. It really is a basic backpack without luxury soft cover and which is not too sturdy. Difference between an Inflatable board and a Hard board
Advantages Inflatable board
- Easy to take on holiday (even on the plane)
- Easy to store in the winter days
- Much cheaper
- Technology has improved greatly over the past 10 years. For this reason, these boards are now almost hard to distinguish from hard boards
Advantages Hardboard
- More speed, which is important if you are a professional
- Easier to make sharp turns on the water because the board is thinner
- No inflation needed, you can get on the water right away
Both inflatable and hard boards have their unique advantages in the world of stand-up paddleboarding, including SUP yoga.
Inflatable boards, as their name suggests, can be deflated and inflated as needed. They offer excellent portability and storage convenience, making them an ideal choice for those who may not have much space or who wish to travel with their board.
Inflatable boards also tend to be softer, which could be a plus for yoga practitioners for added comfort during their routine.
However, inflatable boards may lack the firmness some prefer and could be more affected by strong winds due to their light weight.
Hard boards, on the other hand, are constructed from solid materials like foam, fibreglass, and sometimes even wood or carbon fibre. They are typically more rigid and stable than inflatable boards, making them excellent for speedy paddling, and they often perform better in choppy water or windier conditions.
Their rigidity can also be a bonus when practising intricate yoga poses. However, they can be heavy, less forgiving when you fall l, and challenging to store and transport due to their size.
In summary, your choice between an inflatable and hard board should depend on your specific needs and circumstances, such as your preferred paddleboarding activities, storage space, and travel habits.
Other reviews of the Aqua Marina Fusion online
The Aqua Marina Fusion is a very popular Stand Up Paddle Board and has thus been reviewed by many different websites online.
A short overview of these reviews below:
Amazon.com: Rating 4/5. “Love this board. Super light and mobile. Not very stable but was not expecting a boat. Amazing for the price.”
Sunsetpaddler.com: “If you weighed up to 286 pounds and were on the lookout for an affordable beginner-friendly affordable decent quality inflatable paddle board package that included everything for you to get on the water (apart from a life jacket), then the Aqua Marina Fusion might just be for you.”
Inflatableboarder.com: “Overall, the Aqua Marina Fusion is a good entry-level paddle board and a solid option for larger paddlers who want a fun, all-around board for recreational use.”
Supboardguide.com: Rating 5.2/10. The Fusion is only suited as a beginner board package for someone who wants to cruise without performance or desire for anything more. The Fusion is built for the pleasure of just getting out on the water.
Paddlelove.com: Rating 4.1/5. “Regardless of it being a beginner oriented board, the Aqua Marina Fusion still carries out the traits of a racing / touring board which is seen through its smooth edges, relatively pointy lifting nose and narrow tail.”
Globosurfer.com: Rating 5/5. “It offers you a level of quality that isnβt common in boards within this price range, which is a huge plus. So, if youβre looking for a lightweight and fun board to take anywhere, be sure to consider this one.”
Conclusion: Should I buy this board?
The Aqua Marina Fusion is an inflatable paddle board that is aimed at a large target group. This board is suitable for all-around use and is mostly aimed at beginners that want to get started with paddleboarding and want a board that will last at least a couple of years.
If you want to race or go out on a paddle board together with multiple persons this is not the right board for you, as the weight limit is not that high and the speed is not high enough for racing.
For most people that do not have a board yet and are not advanced this is a perfect beginners board that comes in a complete package. Highly recommended for people that want to get started with Stand Up Paddle boarding for the first time!

I have read a lot about this board lately, but it seems so cheap. How is this board compared to the Blackfin Model X that I own now?
Hi Joe! The Aqua Marina Fusion is absolutely NOT comparable to a Fusion. This is waaaayyy out of its league π
The Fusion is a real beginner board with beginner specs (check out thickness). The Blackfin Model X is more expensive but has (WAY) better specs. Also, accessories from Blackfin are a whole nother level. If you own a Blackfin now, don’t make the mistake to downgrade to a Fusion.
Hi Tom, what is the difference between 2020 and 2019?
Apologies for the unclear question…
What is the difference between the 2020 and the 2019 model of this SUP?
THanks!
Hi Rutger, thank you for your message π
To be honest, there is no difference at all! This model has not been updated, even the SKU is the same, so even if you bought a 2019 board you wouldn’t notice. If you find a 2019 board for less money you should just get that instead.
Hope that helps you finding a nice Aqua Marina Fusion board!
Greetings,
Tom
I’m thinking of purchasing the Aquamarina Fusion. I’m around 70kg and 5’9. Would you recommend this board with a max budget of 450β¬ or is there something better out there. Was also thinking if perhaps the Vapor would be a better fit.
Thanks!
Hi Josh,
The Aqua Marina Fusion will be just fine for that, with your Max budget this is one of the better boards.
Honestly I wouldn’t go for the Vapor, as the board is only 12 cm thick it will bend through in the water quicker, even on lower weights.
So between these you should definitely pick the Fusion.
Wishing you a lot of paddling pleasure!
Greetings,
Tom
I have been given an aqua marina fusion but I am female , only 5ft 3 inches and 58 kg . Itβs my first board . I want to use on river and coast . Will it be ok for my light weight or should I try to send it back ,to get alternative .
,
Thanks Kate
Hi Kate,
The Fusion will carry you easily and is very well suited for your size to paddle around on since it is not too big.
Let me know how your paddling adventures are going!
Tom
Hi Tom π
Can i ask what is better deal? I have an eye on Lidl mistral sup for 300β¬ or this marina for around 310β¬. What do you prefer to buy?
I know that mistral have kayak seat etc. but honestly I am not Shure if I would use it at all.
thanks for advice
Hi Edward,
To be fair it will not be such a huge difference, but if you can get the Aqua Marina Fusion for only β¬310 I would go for that.
It is a very reliable SUP board and if you are not planning to use the kayak seat you might as well go for the Fusion.
May I ask where you managed to find this board for only β¬310?
Greetings,
Tom
Thx Tom for fast reply,
in Czech Republic and Slovakia we have shop with paddleboards windsurfs ect. named NeonMars.
i will try to choose wisely, Can i also ask if Dual Chamber Technology make some difference in stiffness (mistral SUP) or is it just safety feature?
Greetings,
Edward
Hello Tom and well done for your good work here!!! Greetings from Greece.
I’m about to purchase a sup for me (80kg, 1.8m) and my wife (52kg, 1.6m), we are not experienced sup users, but we have successfully tried few times and we both have excellent balance ability. We will use it in the sea (calm or small waves), mostly for 1 person use, but we would like to have the ability to go small rides together. I was thinking choosing between Fusion and Magma.
What would you suggest?
Hi George!
Thank you for your comment and question. Usually I would pick the Monster for two people because of the bigger platform and extra stability, but if you are choosing between these two the Magma would be the better option.
It is slightly bigger and also contains a better pump with it. The kick pad on the back can also help for one of you to lean back a bit, make steering a little bit easier than on a flat board like the Fusion.
I hope this helps you, have a great summer paddle boarding!
Tom
i am 100kg it’s fusion reccomended for me?
Hi there!
The Fusion should be able to carry 100 kg indeed if fully inflated to 15 PSI, so you should be able to paddle on this board!
Have lots of fun paddling!
Tom
Hi Tom
I have looked at a few reviews of the Fusion and the Beast.
I weigh 70 kg, wife 55/60 kg, kids are 5 and 7 years old (both around 20kg). Looking for a SUP that when we camping we can use with the kids maybe 1 adult and 1 or 2 of the kids on mostly river or dams. Also occasionally be able to ride small waves on with myself and perhaps one kid. I know Beast can handle slightly less weight but is better for surfing small waves and Fusion is bigger, can handle slightly more weight but not as good in small waves. Can you use the Fusion to surf small waves. Also maybe the kids will use it on their own when slightly older.
What would you suggest?
Let me know what you suggest
Hi Jeremy,
Do you want to use the board with 1 adult and 2 kids at the same time? Then it’s not that much space really on these boards and it might be better to look for a good deal on an Aqua Marina Monster or Atlas to go out on the water together. It’s not just the weight but also the size of the board you want to consider when going out with 3 people on one board. If it’s just for 1 person surely the Fusion would do.
Let me know what you decide to go with and how you like it!
Tom
