Paddle boarding is becoming more and more popular and everyone wants to buy a paddle board. It is one of the few water sports that you can master within a few minutes and where you can determine your own level.
Since 2013 I have seen the sport grow and increase. To be honest, you see it everywhere at your favourite holiday destination these days, don’t you?
What is the reason paddle boarding has become so popular? Read my blog with 6 reasons why paddle boarding is fantastic and why you should buy a paddle board today!
Paddle boarding is the ultimate workout
What could be better than outdoors sports? Escape the sweaty scent of the gym and breathe in fresh oxygen from nature.
Now you’ll think that fitness is a lot better for your body but that’s not the case at all. Paddle boarding is what is called a real full body workout.
From head to toe, almost all muscles are almost involved in balancing on a board or when you’re paddling.
When you want to speed up your paddling, you train your entire core and a strong core means a strong body.
Do you work out to burn calories? Even then paddle boarding is very suitable. When you’re touring, you burn about 400 – 500 calories per hour!
Paddle boarding is often used by sailors, kitesurfers, windsurfers and even surfers as training.
If the wind is too moderate or when the waves are too low, you can still enjoy the water and have a good workout. It also ensures that you stay in shape.
Paddle boarding is an accessible sport
Whether you’re sporty or not, paddle boarding is always possible. Never been on a surfboard, wakeboard, kiteboard or waterski?
No problem! Paddle boarding is the most accessible water sport and even if you’re not sporty, you’ll see that it’s quite simple.
Of course it is possible that you get a wet suit the first time. However, after a few falls in the water you will find your balance on your favorite paddle board and will be able to tour around.
Paddle boarding is possible (almost) everywhere
Besides the fact that Stand Up Paddle boarding is for all levels, you can also do it on any type of water.
Would you like to tour quietly to enjoy nature? Then a lake or a puddle of water is perfect.
Tip: Did you know that on many paddle boards you are able to take your child, partner or even dog with you?
The more dynamic waters such as a sea or river are a little more difficult. The waves in the UK are never very powerful so this should be possible fairly quickly.
Do you want to take the paddle board on holiday? Then, as a beginner, find a slightly quieter area. Still, you will quickly get used to it.
This ensures that paddle boarding can actually be done on any type of water, and there is always a place somewhere in the neighborhood that is suitable for paddle boarding.
Paddle boarding is possible all year round
Paddleboarding probably makes you think of paddling in the lovely warm sun, in your swimsuit, with the rays of sunshine that shine on the water and give you a tan.
However, paddle boarding can also be done very well with colder temperatures. In fact, there are people who enjoy going out paddle boarding in the freezing cold.
You do need some extra supplies to be able to paddle board safely in cold temperatures.
So have you – just like me – completely fallen in love with the sport? Then climb on your board when it’s colder, that’s a wonderful experience too.
Paddle boarding is for every type of user
In recent years there have been a lot of alternatives for the standard paddle board.
Are you for example a fan of Yoga and do you sometimes want something else than to lie on a mat in a gym?
Then try paddle board yoga. This form of yoga has become very popular in recent years.
Do you like fishing on the water or windsurfing more? Then I have good news for you too: there is a paddle board for that!
A paddle board is practical
We talked about why paddle boarding is so great, but let’s not forget the practical things. A short list with the reasons why an (inflatable) paddle board is also very practical:
- Easy to store
